Rather than watch the World Cup in the comfort of their own living rooms, soccer fans in Berlin are being given a chance to watch in a stadium living room complete with couches on the field and thousands of fellow fans.

Fans of the second division German club were invited to bring couches to create the “World Cup Living Room” at FC Union Berlin’s Stadion An der Alten Forsterei and some 780 couches were registered and set up right on the field. The stadium was also decked out with 38,000 square feet of retro wallpaper and a 700-inch screen.

Some 12,000 people showed up for the World Cup opener between Brazil and Croatia on Thursday. You can learn more about the giant living room and see a video of the preparation of the field HERE.
